Elite Motion Fitness was founded by Carl Hermes Castillo and Brian Gutierrez who first met at the University of California San Diego. Brian is currently a medical student from The University of Queensland, Ochsner. He has a Master of Science Degree in Biology Specializing in Muscle Development & Metabolism from UCSD and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. He is an Orthopedic Surgery Research Assistant focusing on ACL Injury and Knee Rehabilitation at EBM Analytics. He was a former graduate instructor in the field of Exercise Physiology, Physiology & Biochemistry of Nutrition, Biological Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Health Psychology, and Statistics. He is a Certified Personal Trainer, Nutrition Coach, Group Fitness Instructor, Performance Enhancement Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Behavior Change Specialist. His approach to fitness specializes in performance enhancement, corrective exercise, and behavior change. He also enjoys doing Olympic Weightlifting, Power Lifting, and mixed martial arts, especially boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai. He is also certified in effective leadership, teamwork, and project management. 


Carl Hermes is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer as well as a certified Emergency Medical Technician. He is a UCSD graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology and Neuroscience. He has also completed a post-baccalaureate program at Dominican University of California where his research focused on eating disorders in men and microbial disease ecology. Outside of school, he works as a medical scribe in Sonoma Valley Hospital. Hermes aspires to find ways to improve the physical, emotional, and social well-being of individuals who are experiencing any mood- or eating-related issues or disorders. His fitness approach focuses on athletic performance, functional training, corrective exercise, weight management, and nutrition. In his free time, he enjoys reading books, playing basketball, HIIT, mixed martial arts, and hiking.
